We started discussing this project with clients back in August 2021. I remember being on vacation when I received the first iteration of the script. For the next 2 months, the project was constantly changing, and only in October 2021, I got the final version of the script to work.
Following, I'll delve into the most thrilling phases of product video production for Mizu Towels. Remain here, and let's embark on this journey.
Revamping Communication Strategy Task
The towel brand has been successfully promoted since 2018. However, the promotional content they have used is now outdated. We aim to establish a fresh approach to client communication, utilizing vibrant and unforgettable imagery.
In this project, my team and I were tasked with creating a colorful and unforgettable video showcasing the unique features of Mizu’s antibacterial towels.
For this commercial video production, I proposed to the client that we design and construct the set within my studio. The client was enthusiastic about this idea, so we settled on a budget and started bringing the concept to life.
Our studio
Set Design for Product Video
Pre-Production Process
The basis of the project was the location – the bedroom. We had a long discussion with clients: build a real location or build a location in Unreal Engine and shoot everything on the green screen.
As a result, we came to the decision that the value of home comfort can only be conveyed by a real location, which my team and I built right in our studio.
These days I regret that our studio is on the 4th floor without an elevator 馃槅
To talk with clients in detail, we created a 3D model of the future location in SketchUp, placed it inside our studio (the studio鈥檚 layout was also built in SketchUp), painted the walls in the future color, arranged furniture in the color that we found in stock in stores, added decor elements, put the shooting equipment in the places where they planned to shoot. A vibrant yellow was chosen as the primary color for the set to make the product video more captivating.

Initially, our set designer generated a color sketch of the proposed set. It’s important to mention that all the furniture illustrated in the sketch represented items that were either available for purchase or could be custom-made locally.
It was in this form, after some edits and tests with colors, that I approved the design of the location and we moved on to construction.
Then we worked with a 3D model of the set in SketchUp, where we showed how the cameras and actors would be placed. Using this 3d model we also decided on the main scenes and frames on the set.
Constructing a Film Location
Once the sketch and 3D model received approval, we initiated the construction of our location, a task spearheaded by our commercial video production team. Creating a location from scratch, we started with the installation of fabricated fake walls and flooring. After which we bought and arranged furniture. To decorate the window in the color we needed, we bought fabric and sewed curtains. Instead of glass, we used transparent vinyl, which allows light to pass through and does not give glare in the frame, like glass.
It took us about a week from buying the most expensive components to the last screw.
I suggest you look at what we got as a result of building the location from scratch for commercial video production.
So, gradually, from sketches by hand, we got this result.
Developing Commercial Storyboards
While the location construction was in full swing, I began to create and think through the storyboard. Since I had already thought about where the actor would stand and what the scene would look like, I had to think about additional effects and b-roll scenes. For the whole project to go according to plan, we created a simple storyboard with comments for each frame.
Filming Process
The commercial video production for this project involved a large team: a cameraman, director, assistant, makeup artist, and decorator. Thanks to the fact that we filmed in our studio, the process went as smoothly and efficiently as possible. The team had all the necessary imaging equipment at hand.
We took a lot of high-quality photographs and shot all the footage required for commercial video production.
And we also got a quality and rich backstage to show how it was.
We also made a video for our TikTok about how we prepared the equipment for shooting
TikTokPost-Production Highlights
During the production of the product video, we spent a lot of time grading to get even richer tones and enhance what we already had in our studio. You can watch our comparison with the original video to see how important this is.
Also, the post-production services included logo animation, motion design, and the creation of various visual effects. You can see, how we multiplied two towels by 8 with processing magic.
Photo Production
Though initially there was no agreement with the client regarding the production of product photos, the allure of our well-equipped studio and its stunning aesthetics was too enticing to resist. Consequently, we captured some product shots.
It’s worth noting that these photos proved extremely beneficial for the client’s subsequent advertising campaign launch.
Prior Brand Product Videos
We’ve previously collaborated with this regular client on several projects, including four distinct videos focusing on antibacterial towels. Each video was shot in a unique location and tells a different story, which I encourage you to explore.
- Series of YouTube Ads for Antibacterial Towels. Filming took place in the hotel; we conducted the selection of actors and created a storyboard for each frame to save budget and time during the shooting.
- FB/Inst Ads – Summer Vibes with Antibacterial Towels. Product video production occurred in Kharkiv in the aqua zone and on the pond’s bank in July 2021. We needed to show that the towels could also be used on vacation or during summer vacation.
- Funny Video for Social Ads – Tripple uses at home. We shot this short in July 2021 to show different uses for the product.
- Youtube Ads (funny video) – Antibacterial Towels. We aimed to create a fun commercial video that revealed the product’s benefits. For this shoot, we also prepared the location in our studio, bought a bathtub and shelving to complete the interior, and painted the walls and floor.
New Client Thanks to this Commercial Video Production
During the production of our captivating studio video, we secured a contract with a new client seeking to promote their towel line. This added a product video production case to my portfolio for the Soji Towels brand, complete with engaging gifs, photos, and a series of concise videos for Antibacterial Towel advertisements.
Final Video
As a result of commercial video production, we created a convincing product clip for the brand. The video highlights all the unique properties of antibacterial towels. We were able to make a beautiful and juicy picture that is not easy to look away from.
