Table of Contents

A synopsis is a brief and systematic description of the plot, events, and key moments of a screenplay for a film, TV series, book, or other work. It typically consists of several paragraphs and is designed to provide a general overview of the content without delving into the detailed unfolding of the story. It helps interested parties, such as producers, publishers, or agents, quickly assess the potential of the material and make decisions regarding its further development or publication.

Synopses are usually not used in advertising videos but primarily serve to describe the plot and content of long-form works (full-length films, TV series, books).

The main difference from an elevator pitch is that a synopsis is a detailed description of the plot and the central idea of the project, used to present the entire scope of the work. It is longer and more comprehensive than an elevator pitch.
